Huy Truong is preparing Atashi Yokocho for The Sydney at 7339 E. McDonald Drive in Scottsdale. The project is expected to open in 2028 at the large development near Loop 101 and Pima Road.

Atashi Yokocho is modeled on Japan's yokocho dining culture, where narrow alleys hold small restaurants and bars. The Scottsdale version is expected to include about 15 separate restaurant concepts in one venue.

Truong has already brought several Japanese brands to the Valley, including multiple Mensho Ramen locations and Udon Shin in Mesa. Atashi Yokocho is planned to cover ramen, sushi, tempura, yakitori, yakiniku, kaiseki and other regional Japanese dishes.

The dining spaces may range from counters for about eight guests to rooms seating about 50. Truong is also considering short run appearances by Japanese operators, which would give Arizona diners access to limited restaurant concepts within The Sydney.
